Have you ever wondered who is plastic surgery? Most of these are women. Statistics compiled by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery show that 11.5 million cosmetic surgical and nonsurgical procedures performed in 2005, over 90% were preformed on women. In fact, surgical procedures for women showed a slight annual increase of 2% when they were down 8% for men. People aged 35-50 years are more likely to have a cosmetic procedure done, accounting for almost half of procedures, compared with only 4% of the population 65 years and have been older.
Hispanics minority group to get most of the procedures cosmetics with nearly 10%, but Whites accounted for 80% of clients of cosmetic surgery. The most common procedure is cosmetic surgery liposuction, with nearly 4 million procedures performed in 2005. The area of the body most affected are the breasts. Lifts, augmentations, and breast reduction for men and all women have become more common. Breast, plastic surgery, lifts increased by nearly 10% and larger breasts almost a quarter. Breast augmentation was also the most common procedure among women aged 19-34.
In non-surgical cosmetic procedures, the five most common procedures are Botox, laser hair removal, hyaluaronic acid (Restylane), microdermabrasion and chemical peels. The dividing line between cosmetology and cosmetic surgery is becoming increasingly thin.
